wedding cocktail party or champagne/bubblies party?
as the fiance will have his friends over for the reception in Kuching, we decided to host a small cocktail party in the afternoon. since we will not be having any event in the morning, besides a potential tea ceremony for mom’s side.
so our rough schedule looks something like this:
10.00am tea ceremony (potentially)
11.00am photo taking session (family + bridal party)
2.00pm cocktail/champagne reception
7.00pm reception dinner
during the cocktail/champagne party, we gave the honor to our bestman and bridesmaid to arrange the day, together with of course our lovely wedding planner. not sure what they will come up with.
the cocktail/champagne party will be held at the poolside of grand margerita hotel, the sister hotel of where we will be having our evening reception. thank God its only located across the road.
so at this stage, food wise, i have spoken to the hotel event planner. she mentioned that she can give us a discounted rate to charge for an afternoon high tea for about 50 people.
so the 50 whom will be invited will mainly be our close friends who flew in just for our wedding from overseas. sorry local friends, i shall see you at the reception at night or at the after party.
the plan is, for the bridal party to perhaps give a short speech about us and try to make it interesting and fun since it’s going to be really laid back. did i mention, no parents/uncle/aunties allowed!
so, my homework now is to find cheap alcohol mixers or perhaps buy champagne in bulk as the hotel will provide us with a bar tender and will not charge for corkage. awesome!
maybe i should have a theme also for the cocktail/champagne party! if you have any ideas on a signature wedding cocktail drink, do share with me
