tricks on buying an Iban wife..

November 6, 2009 at 9:12 pm (Uncategorized)

i know i have been slacking – it doesnt help when all the wedding falls of different dates and month – you tend to only concentrate on the first and neglect the last 2 – i havent been concentrating much on my reception both in Kuching and in Kluang – its 5 weeks to go and sigh, things are i think on its way.

oh, i will also purchase the wedding favours soon – ive seen the dove and it is so beautiful! will have them courier it to Kuching. ive got to remind the hubs to purchase choccies/sweets for the wedding in Kluang too. we’ve been running around heaps like chicken, driving from Kl to Sg to Kluang to Ipoh. as we speak, we’re heading off to KL tomorrow for my last wedding fitting and also head back to Ipoh to visit the oldies. on top of them, we’ve been viewing houses – i meant viewing condos. condos here are so freakin expensive. who the hell spends 800k – 1 million for a tiny hole? sigh

and so a few weeks ago, we went back home – the hubs bought his iban wife officially – heehee, the chinese needs to give dowry – the indians needs to give dowry – in our tradition, uncle had set the rules – the parents refuse to accept any dowry because in case, if shyt happens at least they did not sell their daugther to another family and cant come home. the conclusion; buy them the piring for the parents.

and off we went hunting for a nice piring that dad loves. sigh im only worth RM450 after all!

October 28, 2009 at 10:02 pm (Reception - Bride)

surprised..

October 23, 2009 at 8:36 am (Uncategorized)

im surprised that i have many stalker – *wave* at Terry and Beat! heehee – i never knew they actually do read my blog.

oh well, im excited – tonight we’ll be driving down to KL to have my first fitting for the wedding gown – crap! i hope i can still fit – ive been to the gym but somehow it doesnt change my body – i wonder what goes wrong? i do not eat supper nor sweets and i stopped drinking BEER!

ive asked the designer to copy Vera Wang’s design of course to suit my curve – of course we wont be using the same material – i wish i was that skinny!

Vera

in the mean time, ive called up the shop to prebook the favours – but unfortunately they will be on holidays until 2 weeks – hopefully they have enough stocks in hand – otherwise ill have to find an alternative.

ive been sending out invites and will deliver more over the weekend.

oh, finally, at the end of the year my family is complete – both sis are flying down, and also my bro in law.

the final discussion with our planner was productive – we’ve changed a few ideas here and there – i cant wait for the end product – hope what i get is what i paid for – yikes…its 8 weeks to my hols!

crunch time..

October 14, 2009 at 11:10 am (Reception - Bride, Wedding Favors)

ok ok, i have to admit i have been slacking – can you believe its less then 2 months to the wedding and err i have yet to confirm my favours? eeeeeeeeeeeeks.. thats like a bride major tasks for a wedding.

its hard to source for at least 700 items which looks nice but also cost effective. most of the favours that i love are too expensive for my pocket and and, the other cheaper options (choccies/sweets) in a bag or box – are not to my daddy’s liking. so you see, how much of a dilemma i am facing? i want cheap but doesnt look cheap! wtf – does it even exist?

hence, i’ve forwarded 8 photos of the chosen one.  i would need daddy to decide by end of this week. did i mention, its food tasting too this weekend with the parents and some of their kepo friends. we’ve found potential MC’s too – someone volunteered and i don’t know – for everything else, its been decided by the wedding committee. i will and i must send out my invites this week too – time to buy some stamps!

out of character, i made a purchase on something essential to the wedding. ill show it next week once i get them. my best buddy at work and im self volunteering babyduck to assist me in my mini project.

so, i need advises:

1

ceramic love plate – of course i will have to buy choccies to fill it in and perhaps customise ribbons too

2

another ceramic plate – i can put choccies again too

3

cappuccino candle in a cup – compared to other candles – i think it looks cool? – but dont see a purpose for favours wise! – its just an option!

4

4.2

cupcakes are the easiest solution – thanks to the recommendation from Justina – its boxed too

5

salt and pepper dove – awww…

290920091008

err what bout this towel cake? wasnt suggested by me but my planner cos she overheard dad mentioning bout it – its not my cup of tea though

7

what about this dove letter opener? its too cute – mom and the hubs love this. i love anything cute

8

luggage tag? in line with the hubs occupation? perhaps his friends would like it more! mwahaha..

anyway, WHAT is your OPINION? Vote Vote Vote

my exercise regime…

October 11, 2009 at 11:55 am (Uncategorized)

ive started going back to gym actively since May this year – i self diagnose myself with having a medical problem because as active as i am at the gym, i still have not lose any weight. i have instead gain muscle and lose my fat %. weight wise stills the same.  it is somewhat frustrating.

so my favourite PT left the gym 2 weeks ago – i decided to sign up with another – instead of doing any other gym work – which its not working on me now, cos i need to increase the intensity of my workout – ive decided to sign up with a PT that teaches me Muay Thai. combine with my weights training, i wish to be able to tone up!

i know for once, my stamina have increased, i do not get tired after an hour of work out – i can do manly push up – i can lift weights – i can do abs – i can climb the stair masters for ages without feeling tired – its good to be able to do all of these – but its bad cos my body is used to it and will not change! wtf

hence, i hope my boxing session will change the course of my training

my new PT is quiet vs the talkative old PT, my new PT is gentle  vs the kepo old PT that i have – im trying to get used to the new one

i skipped ropes for the first time in many years yesterday, my finger no longer hurts when i wear my glove, and i do not get tired after an hour of practice..

i hope to get fitter by the reception in december/january. i love my exercise regime. im trying to go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week now and i feel bliss.

A little update..

October 9, 2009 at 11:02 am (Uncategorized)

anyway, its not like i’ve been really busy – its just that, like babyduck i didnt have any motivation to write.

but i guess, its time for an update!

Kluang Reception

it will be held at a restaurant a stone throw to his place. to be honest, i never imagine myself having to experience a very chinese style wedding dinner -  where i’m from, most weddings are held at a hotel banquet room – so this would be the first for me. apparently in his small hometown, invites are given 2 weeks before – also, apparently there are no seating allocated! to say im stress? i was at first, but heck, if everyone is not, why shall i – it worked well before so as im the bride im just going to attend the wedding.

mom in law and her friends will organise the event. its 9 weeks more and its slowly progressing. we went for food tasting and since the card will only be given 2 weeks before, its not printed yet. we’ve booked the band and also our photographer from kuching, edwin will be flying in to cover the event. we haven’t decide on whether we should videograph the event – but heck, im not planning it so im not worried bout it.

oh, since its going to be a really chinese wedding, the restaurant have 2 sets of arch – purple ribbons and champagne as they say – i call it yellow and it looks hideous – most likely ill stick to the purple theme of flowers.

since nobody is worried about the wedding reception here, i have not even prepared any games for the chinese ‘catch the bride’ section. who knows if its cancelled?

maybe i like things to be perfect – but it doesnt help when no one gives a crap about the planning – hence, ive decided to attend and not care!

Countdown: 13 weeks – 9 January 2009

Ill be away most of December hence i do not know how we’re going to plan it. Also most of November, ill be busy attending Babyduck’s wedding and also picking up my dress from KL.

apparently how the dinner works is that the bride and groom arrives, go up to the stage cut cake, dinner commence and go home. chop chop everything is done by 9pm! wtf, such a waste of money. but hey what can i say, if its how the local works, thats how my weddings going to be like.

Kuching Reception

Things are hopefully going well. The wedding team have been working with my ever so slack planner. She’s awesome but i’d like if planners do get back to me ASAP rather then a few days later. CRAP! i know i can’t expect everyone to be quick and prompt like me but i seriously do have problems with people being late or not responding on time.

OK OK, i sound like a possible bridezilla.

Ive been asking the planner to show me some design of wedding favours – she is too slow and and worse of all, its not even close to anything that i want! So Syl and Jo, shall we quit our job and be an anal event planner instead? We’ll make a good team!

I’ve yet to buy the guest book and lastly the favours!!! yikes…

Otherwise, everything should be OK since its just going to be a dinner reception.

We’re also thinking of a poolside party since we’ve already done the tea ceremony when we’re back to Ipoh a few weeks back. Yeaye for the free time and yeaye for the party by the pool!

Bring your bathers people!

Confuse lah..

September 24, 2009 at 10:31 am (Wedding Flowers)

i am so confuse. my lovely florist have forwarded me some ideas for my bouquet for the Kuching reception and also for the Kluang reception. since ill be going back way early to Kuching, im sure im not able to engage her service. too bad, cos i really do love her work and i cant seem to find any decent florist in Kuching. their ideas are a little too ‘lou tou’ or outdated.

anyway, i still havent set a theme for my reception in Kluang. perhaps i should ask my girls to wear in accordance to the flowers.

tell me your favourite.

would it be this purple/lilac bouquet?

Bouquet51

or perhaps

deep red cala lillies

deep red calla

or or

this lavenderish colour?

lavender bouquet (small)

or or

orangey colour?

orange bouquet3

i still adore my pink, however maybe we can change around abit. having all three flowers in pink is not creative at all.

what say you?

wtf, im talking like a bloody singaporean.

so, what do you think?

ahh..

September 22, 2009 at 1:46 pm (Reception - Bride, Wedding Accessories)

its not that i have forego my blog – its just that, ive been really busy since we tied the knot. we went back to my maternal grandparents place over the long weekend to visit the grandparents. thank God both of them are doing well. i can’t believe that grandpa is already 85 yo this year.

since i have alot of time at work, i decided to browse on hair pieces as one my bridesmaid whos currently living in Australia was complaining that hair pieces in Australia is really expensive. i’ve fallen in love with the work of the Little White Dresser. they are just too vintagey pretty..

oh, also, ive collected the invites for my reception in my hometown Kuching. the cards are pretty – ill most probably will be sending out the invites by end of this week. ive sent most of the cards to my maternal side of the family and the hubby’s family.

oh, kunry my bridesmaid went to a wedding the other day, and the bride have the most beautiful cherry blossom cake i’ve seen.

did i mention, initially the theme i wanted was a cherry blossom theme but i decided to scrap the idea as it was too close to christmas.

if only..
